Figtree Farms' plantable, biodegradable, reusable abaca face masks are an eco-friendly take on the essential facial covering and help to solve the problem of disposable masks by highlighting how they can be made more sustainable.
How is it plantable?
Each mask is carefully embedded with vegetable seeds such as pechay, chili, tomato, eggplant, or mustard. Instead of throwing out your used mask in the garbage, you can tear it into pieces, soak it in water, and let the seeds germinate. In a few days, you’ll have a vegetable plant from your mask!
MADE FROM 100% PURE ABACA PAPER
These DOST-tested masks are made from 100% pure abaca paper - which is known to have 7x better filtration than cloth masks. Researchers at DOST-X have also found that abaca masks absorbed 3-5 percent of the water applied, the N95 mask absorbed 46 percent, and the surgical mask absorbed 0.17 percent. Essentially, the abaca mask repels water far better than an N95 and nearly as good as a surgical mask. Abaca paper also decomposes faster and is friendlier to the environment.
WHY WE LOVE FIGTREE FARMS FACE MASK
All Natural: Every element of these face masks is recycled or naturally sourced - from the colorants to the abaca paper, and even from the labeling and packaging.
Source Local, Support Local: Figtree Farms is all about connecting with our community and supporting local businesses, that’s why all materials used are locally sourced or recycled.
- Women’s Livelihood Program: Each plantable mask is personally handcrafted by the wives of the sugarcane farmers in Batangas as part of a livelihood program. We believe in women empowerment and providing opportunities for strong women.
